Say im being hunted...like a deer?

Okay (JUST PRETEND IM NOT ACTUALLY BEING HUNTED IM JUST CURIOUS!!!) say i was a wild animal right, and i need to escape my predator who is a REALLY good tracker/hunter. I have the forest type terrain and open lands to cross to get away from him. How can i get away quickly and stealthily? I obviously don't want him to find or capture me. He is also MUCh faster than i, but he is bigger, which means he can't go into the underbrush like i can. But i cant stay in there forever, so how do i get to ... lets say the "safe spot" without getting caught?
